Minishot Privacy Policy

Effective date: 2026-04-29

Minishot is an Android app published by Transcendental Apps that resizes photos on your device. This policy explains what information we do and don't collect, and who we share it with.

Summary

  • Minishot does not collect, upload, or transmit your photos. All resizing happens on your device.
  • Minishot does not require an account and does not have any server-side infrastructure that stores user data.
  • Minishot does show ads through Google AdMob, and processes in-app purchases through Google Play Billing. Those services collect information independently, covered below.
  • Minishot is not directed at children under 13.

Your Photos

Minishot never collects, uploads, or transmits your photos. All resizing happens on your device. We never see your photos, your filenames, your file paths, your EXIF or GPS metadata, or your device location. There is no account system and no profile tied to you.

Photos you select are read from the Android Photo Picker, resized in memory, and written back to your device's local MediaStore. The original photos are never modified unless you explicitly choose to delete them through the system's deletion confirmation dialog. No copy of any photo is sent off your device by Minishot.

Anonymous App Diagnostics

To keep Minishot working reliably, the app sends a small amount of anonymous diagnostic data about app activity, for example whether a resize succeeded. This data is not linked to you and cannot be used to identify you.

Data Our Third-Party Services Collect

Google AdMob (ads)

Minishot displays ads using the Google Mobile Ads SDK. Google may collect and process information such as:

  • Device and ad identifiers (Android Advertising ID)
  • Approximate location derived from IP address
  • App interaction events such as ad impressions and clicks
  • Crash and diagnostic data

Google uses this information to serve ads and measure ad performance. You can review and reset your advertising identifier in your device's system settings under Google and Ads.

If you grant limited ad-tracking or opt out of personalized ads through the in-app consent prompt, AdMob honors that signal.

How Google uses data from AdMob partner apps

Google Play Billing (in-app purchases)

If you buy the “Remove ads” upgrade, the transaction is processed by Google Play Billing. Google handles payment information directly; Minishot never sees your payment method or billing details. Google returns a purchase token to the app, which we use only to unlock the ad-free state locally on your device.

Permissions Minishot Requests

  • Photo and media access via the Android Photo Picker so you can choose photos to resize. On Android 13+ this uses the system picker, which scopes access to only the photos you pick for this session.
  • No other sensitive permissions such as location, microphone, camera, contacts, or network-write permissions beyond what the ads and billing SDKs require.

How We Would Contact You About This Policy

We don't. Minishot has no account system, so we have no way to reach you. If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at the same URL as before, and the effective date above will be updated.

How to Contact Us

Email: contact@transcendental-apps.com

For feedback, bug reports, or privacy questions, use the “Send feedback” button inside Minishot's Settings screen. It pre-fills helpful diagnostic information.

Children's Privacy

Minishot is intended for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children. The third-party services above, AdMob and Play Billing, may have their own age restrictions; check Google's terms for details.

Changes to This Policy

If we materially change how Minishot handles data, we will update this policy and bump the effective date above. Because we do not collect contact information, we cannot notify you individually. Please check this page if you'd like to stay current.
